Saturday, Dec. 6, 11 a.m.: Jake Whitfield seminar
A lifelong martial artist, Jake Whitfield has trained in wrestling, karate, kickboxing, and judo. He began his study of jiu jitsu in 2000. A pro mma fighter since 2005, Jake showcased his unique blend of skills and deep jiu jitsu knowledge for almost two decades in the cage. In 2012 he earned his black belt from Royce Gracie and currently holds the rank of 3rd degree black belt. Jake brings an immense knowledge base and an intimate understanding of jiu jitsu to his classes. He teaches students from the start that the fundamentals will get you through tough times and advanced fundamentals will last you a lifetime. His systematic approach to jiu jitsu constantly builds upon these fundamentals bringing students to deep levels of understanding that can be applied to ever increasing rungs of the jiu jitsu ladder. This will be his 7th time teaching at Bellingham BJJ.

Sunday, Dec. 7, 11 a.m.: David Porter seminar:
David Porter is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with 20+ years of training, more than 300 competition matches with 95% of his wins by way of submission. In addition to his years of training and instruction, he is a contributor to BJJ Fanatics training courses, and is renowned as one of the greatest minds in the business (specifically about arm-in chokes like the D’Arce, but those in the know understand how good he is everywhere). He’s grappled the likes of Gordon Ryan and Diego Bispo, and is a Finishers Sub Only Hall of Famer. He also is a founder of Bellingham BJJ along with Jeff and Betsy, and currently leads the program at XCal in Washington, D.C.
